In
Memory of Obinna James Abarikwu (Obi)
Whenever
a child dies, the world mourns his loss: the loss of his love,
laughter, and possibilities. Breath of Hope Foundation,
Inc. (BOH) mourns the death of Obinna
James Abarikwu (Obi). This bright, 10-year-old child
died as a result of complications due to asthma. Even though Obi was
not in a BOH program, his family has chosen to join our
fight against asthma by supporting BOH initiatives. At BOH, we
promise to continue in the names of those, like Obi, who have passed on
and in the names of the millions of others, who continue,
daily, to win the
battle against asthma.

Something
happened to me one day that I wish I
could undo.
An
event so sudden, so tragic, so final and yet, so
true.
Some
friends and family helped me as I began my
grief.
A
feeling so gripping, so empty, so helpless and
yes, disbelief.
Some
flowers and sweet music guided us to your
final rest.
A
service so calming, so lovely, so difficult and
yet, blessed.
Someone
read that Jesus was the resurrection and
the life.
A
promise so comforting, so factual, so reassuring
and yes…nice.
Somehow
grief moves through us in four stages until
we can smile again.
A
place so adjusted, so settled, so peaceful and
yet, pain.
Some
day we’ll all see Jesus on that celestial
shore.
A
home so complete, so bright, so holy and yes,
forevermore.
Sometimes
I’ll see your face, hear your voice or
feel you near.
A
memory so real, so welcomed, so tinged with ache
and yet, dear.
Some
part of me will always wonder why it had to
end like this.
A
life so short, so young, so full of hope and yes,
missed.
